The British Guide To Showing Off - Viva Cinema (98 minutes)
A spectacular, feature length documentary in which British artist and living legend Andrew Logan takes us under his glittering wing and inside his outrageous, anarchic costume pageant; The Alternative Miss World... a fabulous living sculpture that spans forty years of art, fashion and counter-cultural transgression.
Selected music cues from ‘The British Guide To Showing Off’...
For this monumental, sparkling collage of a film - reflecting facets of Logan’s own work and the Alternative Miss World ethos - director Jes Benstock required varied-yet-homogenous music to act as a colourful ‘grout’ (did I really say that?) between montaged, mosaic-like elements of archive footage, celebrity interviews and animation. A further important role for my music was its representation of Andrew’s inner life...the thoughtful artist behind the exuberant ringmaster.
‘a pulsating, energetic soundtrack that’s almost as eccentric as the show itself’
- Jodie Hatley, The Film Pilgrim
